Mucinex DM Maximum Strength Extended-Release Bi-Layer Tablets are an over-the-counter medication formulated to relieve chest congestion and cough for up to 12 hours per dose. Each tablet contains 1200 mg of guaifenesin to thin and loosen mucus, combined with 60 mg of dextromethorphan HBr to help control coughing.
The product uses a bi-layer design, with one side providing immediate release and the other offering extended release, which allows for twice-daily dosing. This formulation is intended for adults and children aged 12 and older, with directions specifying one tablet every 12 hours, not to exceed two tablets in 24 hours. It is available in a 14-count package, with other sizes such as 7, 28, and 42 counts also offered.

Suggested Use
Do not crush, chew, or break tablet. Take with a full glass of water. This product can be administered without regard for timing of meals. Adults and children 12 years and older: 1 tablet every 12 hours; not more than 2 tablets in 24 hours. Children Under 12 years of age: do not use

Do not use:for children under 12 years of ageif you are now taking a prescription monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (certain drugs for depression, psychiatric or emotional conditions, or Parkinson's disease), or for 2 weeks after stopping the MAOI drug.
