Mucinex Children's Multi-Symptom Cold Liquid is a daytime medication designed to relieve multiple cold symptoms in children ages 4 and up, including chest congestion, cough, and nasal congestion. Its active ingredients are dextromethorphan HBr (5 mg per dose) as a cough suppressant, guaifenesin (100 mg per dose) to help loosen mucus, and phenylephrine HCl (2.5 mg per dose) as a nasal decongestant, formulated in a Very Berry flavor to improve palatability.
This product is intended for use during the day, with dosing instructions specifying 5 mL every 4 hours for children ages 4 to 6 and 10 mL every 4 hours for those 6 to 12, not exceeding six doses in 24 hours. It comes in a 4 fl oz bottle with a provided dosing cup for accurate measurement, and it is HSA/FSA eligible. The manufacturer notes it should be used only as directed and kept out of reach of children.
